Reducing Your Travel Carbon Emissions.
By Jim • Apr 2nd, 2008 • Category: Green ProjectsAt this stage of alternative fuel/biofuel development it is impossible to make travelling Carbon Neutral. Sadly we suspect that goal will take a long time to achieve! Yet there are many things that we can do to cut down our Carbon Emissions whilst we travel both at home and abroad, we have outlined these changes in the following article.
A Guide To Greener Driving

Travel is one of the most dangerous causes of Carbon Emission in the world; however you can still do your part. Reduce your driving emissions, fuel, and change the way you drive to help keep the atmosphere clear and the world a safer place. The following are a few easy ways in which you can do this:
· Service your vehicle on a regular basis.
· Share your trips with friends and take fewer vehicles when travelling.
· When doing school runs, take your children’s friends as well.
· Don’t accelerate too hard and keep your driving smooth.
· Reduce your speed and stick to the limit.
· Only take your vehicle if necessary; walk to local shops, don’t drive.
· Take note of your Tyre Pressure on a weekly basis.
· Drive when rush hour is at its minimum in order to avoid traffic.
· And the most effective one; walk or cycle!
Diesel Cars (Biodiesel Fuel):
If you own a Diesel vehicle then you can help out more than most. Diesel vehicles have the opportunity to use Biodiesel Fuel, which is in fact completely 100% Carbon Neutral. This is because Biodiesel Fuel doesn’t produce any Carbon Emission, but instead uses the Carbon that is already in the atmosphere, and naturally exists, in order to run.
Flying Abroad on Holiday

Helping out with the reduction of Carbon Emission locally is all well and good, but this isn’t enough; you can also help out abroad and in different Countries when you go on holiday by following these simple ideas:
· Hire Push Bikes instead of Cars when travelling and exploring locally.
· Ask that your towels can be washed every other day instead of every day.
· Turn off the Air Con when you’re not in the room.
Did you know that if just 50% of all tourists staying abroad in an Air Conditioned room turned off their Air Con for the week that they’re abroad, then we’d save over a whopping five billion Tonnes of CO2!!
