Electronic Giant LG Announce The Launch Of Energy Efficient LCD Monitor.

Electronics firm LG has announced it’s launched the world’s most energy-efficient monitor — the snappily named Flatron W2252TE. The 22-inch widescreen LCD claims to offer a 45 per cent power reduction on other models, a saving of 40 watts. And of course that means smaller electricity bills.

I have a love-hate relationship with electronics — I need them to do my job and they’re nice to have at home but they can’t exactly be called green. So I’m always happy when greener models come out, but I’ve got to say it could do more. It’s still got the toxic chemicals that come with all electronics, and LG hasn’t changed anything about the actual materials the monitor is made from. I’m hopeful that at one point we’ll see a truly environmentally friendly monitor and computer, but in the mean time, this one’s a step up…

…The LG monitor will be available to buy in the UK in August. Pricing details are still to be confirmed.
